The latest violence comes after a horror discovery in Atlantis on the night of Saturday 9 May when a woman was found wounded near a burning vehicle in John van Niekerk Street in the Atlantis industrial area.
According to a police report, officers responded at about 11.44pm after receiving reports of an injured person near the Mpack factory.
When officers arrived, they found a 30-year-old woman suffering from burn wounds to her back and a stab wound to her neck.
Police said the woman alleged that she and her friend, known only as “Iffoma”, had been kidnapped by several men in Eerste River before being driven to Atlantis with their faces covered.
The victims were allegedly assaulted, strangled and placed inside a vehicle which was then set alight.
Police said the woman managed to escape from the burning vehicle and ran for help while her friend’s body was later discovered next to the burnt out car.
No arrests have been made and investigations into the murder, attempted murder and carjacking cases are continuing.
