Jomo’s Power have endured an uneven start to their 2026 SAFA Cape Town Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League campaign, showing flashes of promise but failing to sustain momentum across matches.
The season opened positively with a hard-fought 1–0 win over third-placed Premier United, followed by a credible 1–1 draw against Antayaspor JPM CT FC. Those results suggested early progress, but consistency has proved elusive. On Friday, 16 January, Jomo’s Power slipped to a 2–1 defeat against Greenwood Athletic at Solo Road in Retreat.
Despite dominating possession, the team again struggled to convert chances. Missed opportunities and lapses in concentration proved costly. Head coach Lonn van Graan said finishing remained below the required standard, adding that greater focus would be needed as the season unfolds. “The performances are not yet where we want them to be, but improvement will come with time and hard work,” he said.
After 10 matches, Jomo’s Power have scored 19 goals and conceded 17, with four wins, two draws and four losses leaving them eighth on the table. Defensive discipline remains a concern.
Those issues resurfaced on Friday, 23 January, when they lost 2–1 to Goals 50 United at Robinvale Sports Ground, despite controlling large periods of the match. It was their second home defeat of the season.
Attention now turns to a daunting away fixture against Cape Town Spurs at Ikamva. Van Graan remains cautious but hopeful, saying discipline and sharper finishing will be essential if his side are to challenge one of the league’s strongest teams.
