SAFA Cape Town has brought back Inter-LFA football after an absence of more than six years, cultivating talent, unity, and a love for grassroots football.

The tournament provides opportunities for players, officials, and community involvement, showcasing local talent and fueling enthusiasm for the sport.

On Sunday 29 June, the competition kicked off at various sports fields across the Peninsula, with strong community support creating a lively atmosphere at the youth matches. Atlantis and Dunoon participate in group G with Northern Suburbs and Delt LFAs.

At Robinvale Sports Grounds in Atlantis, Northern Suburbs LFA met Atlantis LFA.

Claude Brown, President of Atlantis LFA, and Martin Julie, President of Northern Suburbs LFA, thanked SAFA the Cape Town Inter-LFA competition for its pivotal role in creating avenues for youth development and raising the level of competitiveness in football tournaments across the SAFA Cape Town region. They emphasised that the competition not only promotes social progress but also forges lasting bonds of camaraderie among LFAs.

This event serves as a melting pot of diverse cultures, keeping young people away from involvement in gang-related activities while facilitating the formation of new social connections, said the two presidents.

Denver Faax of Northern Suburbs LFA said the tournament increases competition and cultivates football talent among young players, equipping them with the skills needed to excel in higher-level SAFA competitions. He also emphasized that the disciplined approach fostered by these games instils essential values such as teamwork, perseverance, and respect in young athletes.

Furthermore, structured matches help in the identification and development of talent, which lays the foundation for promising players to ascend to provincial and national levels. This holistic development not only hones their athletic abilities but also nurtures positive character traits and life skills.

The significant support from parents and community leaders underlines the competition’s positive impact on the local community. By promoting pride and unity, the events foster a sense of belonging, motivating more young individuals to participate in constructive endeavors.

This strategic move aims to extend the benefits of the SAFA Cape Town Inter-LFA Competition to a wider demographic, ensuring that more youths can take advantage of the opportunities it offers.

Both presidents said they were grateful to the supporters for their generous contributions to the Inter-LFA competition held at Robinvale Sports Ground.
