Voters in Dunoon will return to the polls later this month when a municipal by-election is held in Ward 104, opening a new contest for representation in the City council.
The ward includes Dunoon and neighbouring areas such as The Stables and the Killarney Gardens industrial area north of Milnerton.
The by-election will take place on Wednesday 25 March.
Michael Hendrickse, provincial electoral officer for the Western Cape, said registered voters who might not be able to vote on election day should apply for a special vote before the deadline later this week.
Applications opened on Monday 9 March and close on Friday 13 March at 5pm.
Special votes allow registered voters who cannot vote at their designated voting station on election day to cast their ballot earlier or, in cases of illness or disability, through a home visit.
Special voting will take place on Tuesday 24 March between 8am and 5pm, a day before the municipal by-election.
Voters must present a green barcoded ID book, smart ID card, or a valid temporary identification certificate when voting.
